Last night I was up late as usual, but while looking through my Twitter page CNN had breaking news.

Sen. Ted Kennedy died late Tuesday night, he was 77.
I realized that the end of an era was here. I kept watching CNN last night until I finally fell asleep and when I woke up this morning his 1980 presidential campaign speech was on.

"For me, a few hours ago, this campaign came to an end. For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."

On my way to school I kept thinking about Kennedy's visit to DMC in 2008 to encourage locals and mostly the youth to vote for Obama.
Kennedy opened his speech in Spanish, (good spanish) something I personally appreciated (those who know me know exactly why).
I feel lucky I was there that day and that I got to write about it for The Foghorn.
DMC made history that day.

This year has definitely been full of suprises, with Michael Jackson, Walter Cronkite, Farrah Fawcett and now Kennedy's death I can only wonder who will be next...
