The Siren Blog
A new chapter has opened in my life. I am no longer the Editor in Chief for the Foghorn. I have taken on a new challenging role as the Editor in Chief for the Siren Magazine. I have set a couple of goals, which are to produce the most controversial yet not offensive literary magazine in Siren History. My goal is to document this process. My goal is to have it ready by the beginning of the Fall semester.
I will also be working on The Siren News Magazine, to come out before I graduate in December.
I have not left the Foghorn. I am now the new photo editor for the Fall semester.
Wish me luck.

So, how should it be represented?

Now don't get your panties in a wad, Only a Handful's rap "I'm from Corpus" could never have been taken seriously. Consider that Rex Gabriel made a call out for "The Best White Rappers in Corpus" to write an anthem, (at least that was my understanding). Taking that into consideration, do you actually believe that 2 Guys in the Morning, a product of C101, rock radio, are actually going to pick anybody with a hint of talent to put on youtube? Enter Mayor Joe Adame, "I don't think 'I'm from Corpus' is the right image for our city." Well, duh...it's rap music, but then again, what is the right image for our city? The video featured scenes from the Harbor Bridge, the Ortiz Center and the Lexington...all super-imposed, (I guess Only a Handful was too afraid to...Time to support our new leaders

Last week, U.S. Army veteran John Crowell was elected president of the Del Mar College Student Government Association. Now that we have a leader in place, we as students should finally have a voice to represent them on the college’s issues concerning students. Crowell will be stepping into some big shoes as the new leader and with those shoes come heavy expectations. After a semester without leadership, the SGA can now look to move forward and work towards a successful year. To obtain that success, Crowell will have to find ways to encourage more involvement from the DMC student body. Part of that will require a totally transparent SGA. Students must be made aware of every single aspect that our SGA is involved in and...What's with all the Baby Desks?

Corpus Christi has one of the nation’s highest obesity rates. It’s not hard to see why with the amount of Mexican restaurants and fast food joints everywhere. Everywhere you look, a person can find a value meal for under $7. Del Mar College is no exception. If somebody wanted to get a quick meal, he or she could choose from Whataburger, McDonald’s Pizza Hut, Little Caesar’s, Taqueria Alteno, and KFC. With that in mind, it is no wonder we are a campus of over-indulgence. I’m no exception. At 6 feet tall and 265 lbs, it is a safe assumption that more than a few “Double Double” combos have been put away. Looking around campus, it can be said that I’m not alone here when I ask, “Del Mar College, what is with all the...Shirley has a point...but his approach sucks

Former NBA's Shirley's Haiti comments spark controversy Former NBA player Paul Shirley is getting slammed for recent comments about the victims of Haiti. Shirley, a freelance writer for ESPN (who has since been dropped) stated that he would not be donating any money towards the relief efforts and compared the victims to “homeless men on the street.” “Based on my past experiences, I don’t think the guy with the sign that reads ‘Need your help’ is going to do anything constructive with the dollar I might give him,” Shirley posted on his column, “If I use history as my guide, I don’t think the people of Haiti will do much with my money either.” It gets worse. Shirley went on to address a letter to the Haitians asking...NEWSFLASH: Roy Williams possessed by the spirit of T.O. (and not in a good way)

When Terrell Owens left Dallas, Cowboys’ fans were sure that the whining would stop. Well, apparently not. With the Dallas Cowboys sitting pretty, tied for first place in the NFC East, not everybody wearing the Silver Star is celebrating. The new No. 1 wide receiver, Roy Williams, has been heard complaining about pass selection and of all things, the ball not being thrown correctly. Huh? When asked about his production compared to Miles Austin’s, Williams said, “He gets the ball thrown correctly, I’m stretching, falling, doing everything. My balls are everywhere.” The last part of that quote gets me every time. Excuse me, Mr. Owens…I mean Mr. Williams… for not breaking out my violin. As a pro...
