According to numerous sources in departments under the supervision of Jose Rivera, vice president of Student Development, directors and staff members are now reporting directly to Lee Sloan, interim vice president of Administration and Finance and not Rivera, indicating changes in DMC’s administrative structure.

The offices within the VP of Student Development’s area include: Director of Admissions/Registrar, Director of Financial Aid/Placement Services, Director of Counseling/Advising Services, Director of Testing, Director of Trio Program, Director of Student Leadership and Campus Life, and Coordinator of Tutoring and Liaison Student Success Center.

Two associate vice president positions – Enrollment/Retention and Student Development – under the VP of Student Services in the college’s organizational chart (updated February 17) are presently vacant.

DMC President Mark Escamilla, Provost Fernando Figueroa and Claudia Jackson, assistant to the president for Community Relations, have declined repeated requests for comment on the changes and the possibility of further realignment.

According to Claudia Jackson, assistant to the president for community relations, students wishing to file grievances or appeals can contact Katheryn Herrera in the Office of Student Development in the Harvin Student Center room 204, extension 1277.
