Eager fans of the band Switchfoot patiently waiting outside the Old Concrete Street Amphitheater (CSA) last Saturday were ready to rock and though the doors would not open until 7 p.m., there were fans of all ages lining up at dusk.

When the doors finally opened, a mass of people rushed to the Pavilion Patio side of CSA. Huddled in a corner of the rail was a family whose members, including their seven year old daughter, were all ecstatic to see the band.

They held their spots among the other fans and families as the band signed and greeted VIP fans backstage. An hour passed before the band finally took the stage and pumped up the crowd.

The first song they played was their famous “Dare You to Move” and the whole crowd sang their hearts out to the hit. Next the group played a few songs from their latest album “Hello Hurricane” and pleased the crowds for hours before they ended their show in the late evening.

Switchfoot has been around for years. Those of college age can recall the band being featured in the motion picture hit “A Walk to Remember.” From then on, the band’s success hit at full force.

Their first album to hit the stands was “A Beautiful Letdown,” which had songs featured on the film. Switchfoot released three more albums after their smash hit. They not only offered musical stimulation and high school anthems, but they also offered religious perspective.

Switchfoot is a Christian band that has been true to their Christian fans as well as mainstream fans. With steady fame on their side, the band has managed to maintain a clean reputation, winning the approval of parents everywhere.

“I love that my children are listening to this band and I don’t have to worry about them getting the wrong message,” said Mary Saenz, a Corpus Christi mother and concert attendee.

Members of the band are Jon Foreman (lead vocals), Tim Foreman (bass guitar), Chad Butler (drums), Jerome Fontamilles (keyboards) and Drew Shirley (guitar).

With success, talent and parental approval on their side, Switchfoot has an amazing tour coming up, satisfying current fans and gaining new ones on the way.

Switchfoot displayed their famous energy, putting on an electrifying performance at their Corpus Christi concert and fans went home pleased after the amazing performance.
