Last Sunday, Forever the Sickest Kids performed at the House of Rock, jamming for all their local fans. The six-man band, out of Dallas, was formed in 2006 and is comprised of: Austin Bello, bass; Kyle Burns, drums; Johnathan Cook, vocals; Kent Garrison, keyboards; Marc Stewart, guitar and Caleb Turman, guitar.
Turman went on PureVolume. com one day and accidently clicked the mouse causing them to get a music front page and pay $350 – they did not even have a song or the money.
“When it happened I was totally freaking out,” said Truman. “I had to rush and call a friend to help us write and record a song in two days.” Truman said the song’s name was “Hey Brittany,” about a girl he met in college.
Bello said that the band name Forever the Sickest Kids came from the fact that they were “professional wake boarders” and had a boat named Forever the Sickest Boat, so they became Forever the Sickest Kids.
After 7-8 months of being a band, they were immediately signed by Universal Studios Record Label. “When we found out, I felt stoked,” said Burns. “We were excited.”
Most band members have known each other for almost all their lives. “I’ve known Austin so long . . . since two weeks before we became a band,” said Stewart jokingly.
Burns said that in their free time outside the band, they rent boats, work out and get massages and manicures. Garrison argued with Burns about Burns being the only one who did the manicure part. Burns said, “I want my hand to look awesome when I hold my girlfriend’s hand.”
After releasing their first full CD, the band has been touring successfully all over the US and building a fan base.
Their next tour will be May through June with many other bands.
