Students who are interested in transferring to a university need look no further and do not need to spend a dime on transportation to find the dream university because of DMC’s 2-2-2 Transfer Grant that offers trips to different universities for prospective and current DMC students.
Hector Garcia, outreach liaison, said, “This program is here to promote a higher education to our students.”
The program has been operating since last June and has already made trips to five different universities including Texas A&M-College Station, UTSA, UT-Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Each trip transports 10-30 students, but the number of students who are encouraged to go is not limited.
Garcia said, “This program is important because it gives the students opportunities that perhaps they may not have otherwise taken part in. It doesn’t cost anything.”
The program pays for transportation and food while students “gain a better understanding of what it takes to be able to be accepted in a university as well as learn about housing,” Garcia said.
Students interested in taking a trip with this program can sign up at the Career and Transfer Center, Room 140 in the Harvin Student Center.
