Philosophy Essay Contest

The DMC Department of English and Philosophy will host a philosophy essay writing contest for which first and second prizes are a $50 and $25 Barnes and Noble gift certificate, respectively.

Students can write about any philosophical topic and the deadline for the competition is contest is due on the March 1. Students may turn in their paper to (mhollen1@delmar.edu) MLA style is required before submitting. Contest winner will be announced in mid March after submissions. If you are stuck with what to write here are some suggested topics given: Does God exist? Are we free? What is justice? What is consciousness? And finally what is the good life? All these are great beginner topics if you are still confused as to what the purpose of philosophy start by the fundamental specifics: it’s an activity that people exercise to find out basic fundamentals about themselves the worlds in which they live, and their purpose to the world. Those who study philosophy engage in these basic questions, so to make this easier on you, philosophy is traditionally divided into major areas of study.
