On March 13, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will be hosting a walk to raise funds and awareness, hosted at Heritage Park and DMC Student Services has created a Dream Team to help raise attention for the MS Campaign on campus.
“I think the Del Mar College Dream Team would be something fun to become a part of,” said Liberal Arts major Aaron Perez, a student who has been attending DMC for three semesters.
“I think it shows school pride, while also being an active part of the community,” he said.
Students that become part of the DMC Dream Team for the MS Walk are not required to walk the event. Those who join the DMC Dream Team receive a free sports bag.
According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society website, there are many ways to support the MS Walk, but all students must register before being allowed to participate in any of them.
“Many of us Del Mar College students are working parents as well,” said Michelle Henderson, a DMC student for two semesters. “I love that I could be involved and help out with the walk without having to take too much time out of my schedule.”
Other fundraising options include recruiting members to join and finding people to help at the event.
DMC Dream Team members can send out e-mails and post information about the event on their Facebook or MySpace accounts.
There is no fee to become a part of the DMC Dream Team for the MS Walk.
For more information about the Dream Team, students can contact Christina Cayce at 361-698-1847, or visit the website www.main.nationalmssociety. org/site/walk.
