This past week marked Primary Elections and although Texas had the highest voter turnout in 20 years, only 14 percent of registered voters in Nueces County voted.
It is known that the Primary secures positions for those running in the big election in the fall, but how is that any less of a reason for people to vote, or better yet, care?
The apathy that is blatantly shown in Nueces County is surprising when there are so many who are eager to criticize what is wrong on a consistent basis.

Voter apathy is common among the young crowd, and the reason being is because voting is not hip, nor is it taking the headlines at OMG.com. People in this country have a short attention span and it’s usually attracted to things that are flashy and beautiful.
An old person talking about issues is not flashy and pretty, it will not be on MTV and it will not be popular because let’s face it, this is Corpus Christi.
There is no motivation to get out and vote for the person they want, but at the same time there is a lack of interaction among the common citizen with the person campaigning
