Is it just me, or do the majority of Corpus Christi drivers get their licenses from the back of a cereal box? Its seems that no matter where I go in Corpus, there's someone cutting me off, texting and driving, or just not paying attention to the road or the people around them.
SPID, for instance, is horrible. Every night there's a story of someone getting splattered across the pavement due to the recklessness of others or him- or herself, when all it takes is a little consideration on either side to avoid any conflict.
Sadly, when provoked by even the slightest of annoyances, most people react with an in-your-face attitude that usually consists of "flipping the bird" or cutting the antagonist off, or both.
I myself have been known to occasionally have a lead foot when I get caught on a bad day, but is it really that hard to chill, relax, or just get to where you're going without being an ass?
I for one think it is hard because we all have bad days and when we are in a bad mood, minute things just seem to piss us off more.
When I get out of class and I'm heading home after a long day of listening to a professor drone on and on about redundant facts, the last thing I want is some twitty person on his or her cell phone swerving into my lane and cutting me off.
It just makes my life that much harder – is it so much to ask that you call your BFF when you're off the road?
Look, we all have times when we need to talk on the phone and drive, times where we have to speed in order to avoid traffic, and even times where we have to drive offensively in order to get out of sticky situations, but it's turning into a pastime for most drivers and it doesn't seem to be coming to an end any time soon.
