Every time a special event goes on or is being planned, whether it’s a sporting event or convention, people who say they will be committed end up being flakes.
Nobody really controls these people’s lives; they don’t have to be there should they choose not to. However, life is easier for others when, if you say you are going to be committed, you are a team player and own up to your commitment.
Nobody likes a flake...nobody!
Just recently a friend of mine started a group of cheerleaders for the Roller Derby competitors here in town. Well, she managed to get eight people to come to the tryouts, but after that, not one girl got back with my friend to schedule a practice.
The games begin next week and my friend is going out of her mind trying to get these people to commit.
We all have busy lives and different things that cause us to miss certain events, but if you think you can’t make it to a place or an event, it’s important that you CALL or leave a message to let the people in charge know what’s going on.
It can be a real drag when you can’t make it and don’t let everyone know where you are and what you are doing.
It’s one thing if you can’t make it to person’s party and call to let the person know that you can’t make it, but to not let the person know you’re not going to make it, allowing them to get their hopes up, that’s just immature and cruel.
