1. How are muscle cramps caused and how can they be eliminated or limited?

Sports and other vigorous activities can cause excessive fluid loss from perspiration. If one is not hydrated properly and is losing too many fluids (sweating), an imbalance of potassium sodium will occur and the likelihood of muscle cramps increases. To prevent/reduce cramps, drink water before, during and after exercising – especially if you are in hot climates – to refurbish electrolytes.

2. What type of diet should follow I follow to increase metabolism?

The best way to increase metabolism is to exercise. Increased activity places greater energy demands on the body thus effecting metabolism. It is also beneficial to eat smaller portions of lean proteins and complex carbohydrates more often. For instance, six small meals a day versus three large meals.

3. How do you build up lung capacity?

You can change the capacity of your lungs to a certain point since total lung capacity depends on a person’s age, height, sex, weight and degree of physical activity.

Some of the options for increasing lung capacity include:

-Do challenging cardiovascular activities - Start slowly and work your way to more intense cardio, depending on your goal. Cardio workouts can be progressive.

-Train at higher altitudes – This option is not very practical, but it is a fact. Many serious athletes do move to higher altitudes to train before competitions. Their lung capacity will be larger at higher altitudes because there is less pressure from the atmosphere.

-Do not smoke!!!!
